About the Role

Our client, a prominent commercial property management group, is seeking a Senior Sanitation & Hygiene Officer to oversee the cleanliness and hygiene standards across its prestigious portfolio of properties in Sandton, Gauteng . This pivotal role involves developing and implementing comprehensive sanitation programs, conducting rigorous site inspections, managing cleaning staff and contractors, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing large-scale cleaning operations, a thorough understanding of hygiene best practices in commercial environments, and excellent leadership qualities. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for tenants and visitors, contributing significantly to the reputation and operational excellence of our client's properties in the bustling Sandton business district.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage robust sanitation and hygiene programs for all assigned commercial properties. Conduct regular, detailed inspections of all areas to ensure adherence to cleanliness standards and identify potential hygiene risks. Supervise, train, and manage cleaning teams, including in-house staff and third-party contractors. Ensure compliance with all national and local health, safety, and environmental regulations. Manage the procurement and inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and consumables, ensuring cost-effectiveness. Develop and maintain cleaning schedules and operational procedures to optimize efficiency and service quality. Liaise with property managers and tenants to address specific cleaning needs and concerns. Investigate and resolve any sanitation-related issues or complaints promptly and effectively. Implement and promote best practices in waste management, pest control, and general hygiene. Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, training, incidents, and supply management.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience in sanitation, hygiene management, or facilities management, with a focus on commercial properties. Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing cleaning protocols and hygiene standards. Proven experience in managing cleaning staff and contractors effectively. Strong knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and modern sanitation techniques. Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under pressure. Proficiency in standard office software and experience with facilities management software is a plus.
