Job summary

Network Finance seeks a seasoned Electrical Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection systems and switchgear up to 33kV. You will diagnose faults, supervise installations, and ensure safety compliance on mining-related protection networks.

You will configure relays and metering with OEM software, oversee FAT/SAT, and mentor junior engineers. A strong grounding in IEC 61850 and Modbus is required.

Qualifications

• BTech or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Registration with ECSA advantageous.
• ORHVS certification required.
• 5+ years’ experience in testing & commissioning of protection systems and switchgear (380V – 33kV).
• Fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical systems (380V – 33kV).
• Repairs, replacements, and wiring of protection systems and switchgear.
• Routine maintenance of protection, control, and metering systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of protection devices, metering equipment, and switching devices (LV & MV).
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of protection faults.
• Carry out equipment repairs, replacements, and wiring for protection systems and switchgear.
• Lead installation and configuration of protection relays, control systems, and metering equipment using OEM software.
• Oversee FAT, SAT, and site commissioning of switchgear, protection, control, and metering systems, including relay testing, transformer tests, fault simulations, and communication checks.
• Support MV/HV switching operations and isolation procedures in line with site standards.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
