Job summary

Network Recruitment is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer for protection systems and switchgear, requiring 5+ years of testing and commissioning experience across 380V to 33kV. You will troubleshoot faults, perform maintenance, repair wiring, and lead relay/configuration projects using OEM software in a mining environment.

Applicants should hold a BTech or degree in electrical engineering, with ECSA registration advantageous and ORHVS certification.

Qualifications

BTech or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Registration with ECSA advantageous.
ORHVS certification required.
5+ years’ experience in testing & commissioning of protection systems and switchgear (380V – 33kV).
Experience with fault finding, repairs and wiring of protection systems.
Familiarity with MV mining networks and IEC 61850, Modbus protocols.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and calibration of protection devices, metering equipment, and switching devices (LV & MV).
Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of protection faults.
Carry out equipment repairs, replacements, and wiring for protection systems and switchgear.
Lead installation and configuration of protection relays, control systems, and metering equipment using OEM software.
Oversee FAT, SAT, and site commissioning of switchgear, protection, control, and metering systems, including relay testing, transformer tests, fault simulations, and communication checks.
Support MV/HV switching operations and isolation procedures in line with site standards.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
