Lesedi in South Africa is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects in the Grid (Transmission & Distribution) and Renewables sectors, from initiation through to completion.

You will provide strategic leadership to project teams, manage stakeholder relationships, oversee contracts and commercial performance, and ensure delivery within approved scope, budget and schedule while maintaining quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in grid transmission/distribution or renewables.
• Experience with PV systems or substations and EPC/EPCM projects.
• Proven track record managing budgets, contracts, procurement and project controls.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To lead and manage complex multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery within approved scope, budget, schedule, quality and safety requirements within the Grid (Transmission & Distribution) and Renewables industry. The Senior Project Manager provides strategic leadership to project teams, manages stakeholder relationships, oversees contractual and commercial performance, drives project governance, and ensures projects contribute to organisational objectives while maintaining compliance with company standards and client requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Project Planning and Delivery

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project execution plans and schedules
• Lead teams on projects that ranges from up to installation to 200MW utility-scale projects to achieve project milestones
• Monitor project scope, budget, schedule and quality performance
• Resolve project issues and implement corrective actions where required
• Ensure successful project handover and close-out, including lessons learnt documentation

Contract, Commercial and Financial Management

• Administer project contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
• Monitor project costs, cash flow, forecasts and budget performance
• Review and approve procurement activities and subcontractor appointments
• Manage variations, claims and commercial risks
• Prepare financial reports and provide accurate project performance updates

Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
• Lead project meetings and communicate project progress effectively
• Coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, construction and support functions
• Resolve stakeholder concerns and negotiate project solutions
• Ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle

Governance, Risk, Quality and SHE Management

• Ensure compliance with company governance, policies and procedures
• Identify, assess and manage project risks and mitigation plans
• Promote a strong Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) culture
• Monitor compliance with quality assurance and quality control requirements
• Conduct regular project audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives

Leadership and Business Improvement

• Lead, mentor and develop project personnel and junior project managers
• Allocate resources and monitor team performance
• Support business development through technical and project management input into proposals
• Drive continuous improvement of project management systems and processes
• Contribute to strategic initiatives and organisational objectives

QUALIFICATION

• Bachelor's Degree or BEng/BSc/BTech in Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
• Professional Project Management qualification (PMP, PrCPM or equivalent)
• Formal training in Contract Management
• Certified training in PMBOK principles

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 8 years' project management experience within grid (transmission and distribution) and/or renewable energy environment
• Experience working with PV systems or Substation Projects
• Demonstrated experience managing medium-large multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM projects
• Proven experience managing project budgets, contracts, procurement and project controls
• Practical site construction and commissioning experience
• High level understanding of PMBOK principles
