Overview

A respected and growing company in the renewable energy space is looking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to take the lead on a large-scale Solar PV and BESS project that is moving into construction.

This is a highly delivery-focused role for a Senior PM who can drive execution across multiple workstreams, manage contractors confidently, and run NEC contract processes in a live environment (early warnings, compensation events, programme obligations and change management).

The business is expanding and building a strong project pipeline, with potential opportunities to contribute to future projects outside South Africa, depending on experience and project availability.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Construction Execution

• Lead end-to-end execution as the project enters construction and progresses toward commissioning.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, site delivery and handover activities across workstreams.
• Drive delivery discipline, problem-solving and progress accountability across teams.

NEC Contract & Commercial Management

• Administer NEC contract processes proactively and in line with governance requirements.
• Manage early warnings, compensation events, formal correspondence and change control.
• Support commercial processes around variations, claims and dispute avoidance.
• Own and maintain the master schedule (MS Project / Primavera) and delivery plan.
• Monitor progress, identify slippage early and drive recovery actions.
• Provide clear reporting on delivery, risk, cost and contract status.
• Run project governance structures, meeting rhythms and action tracking.
• Manage key stakeholders, contractors, consultants and relevant authorities.
• Maintain a practical risk register with active mitigation and escalation.

Safety, Quality & Documentation

• Ensure site delivery meets safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Drive QA/QC discipline and support structured close-out and handover packs.

Experience Required

• 7–10+ years’ Senior PM experience in EPC delivery environments (renewables / power infrastructure preferred).
• Strong experience administering NEC contracts in active projects.
• Proven capability managing contractors, programme, governance and delivery controls.
• Skilled in MS Project / Primavera and strong reporting discipline.
• Engineering qualification preferred; PMP / PrEng / PrTechEng advantageous.
