Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead energy infrastructure projects in the Pretoria region. You will oversee planning, design, and execution of power generation, transmission, and distribution initiatives, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Pr. Eng registration (preferred), and at least 7 years’ project engineering experience in the energy sector, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in project engineering within the energy sector.
• Proven track record of managing medium to large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of power systems, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Proficiency in project management software and engineering design tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, design, and execution of energy infrastructure projects from initiation to completion.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
• Ensure that all projects comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for new energy initiatives.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports and technical specifications.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and reduce costs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during project execution.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of project management processes and engineering best practices.
