Job summary

Placements24's client, a leading architectural practice in George, Western Cape, seeks a Senior Project Architect to lead large-scale developments from concept through to delivery. You will manage project teams, coordinate with consultants, review design documentation, monitor budgets and timelines, and ensure construction quality and sustainability.

A minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience, a Master's degree in Architecture, and SACAP registration are required; Revit and AutoCAD

About the Role

Our client, a prominent architectural practice renowned for its work on large-scale developments, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Architect for their George, Western Cape office. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can lead complex projects from conception through to completion, ensuring design excellence, technical integrity, and client satisfaction. You will be instrumental in managing project teams, coordinating with consultants, and overseeing construction phases for significant commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of large-scale architectural projects, managing all phases from initiation to post-completion.
• Oversee project teams, including junior architects and designers, fostering collaboration and ensuring high-quality output.
• Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team of consultants (structural, MEP, landscape, etc.) and external stakeholders.
• Develop comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Ensure projects adhere to budget, timeline, and quality standards set by the client and the practice.
• Conduct site visits and provide construction administration support, resolving site issues promptly.
• Engage with clients, present design proposals, and manage client expectations effectively.
• Champion sustainable design principles and innovative construction techniques.
• Review and approve contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Architecture or equivalent professional qualification.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in architectural practice.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large, complex development projects (commercial, residential, institutional).
• Proficiency in BIM software (Revit) and AutoCAD is essential.
• Thorough knowledge of South African building regulations, standards, and construction practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to manage project finances and timelines effectively.
• Strong portfolio showcasing successful project delivery.
• Professional registration with SACAP is mandatory.
• Experience in the George area or the broader Western Cape region is highly preferred.
