Placements24 is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Architect to lead industrial and infrastructure design and delivery in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will oversee design from concept through construction, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of architectural practice with a strong focus on industrial and infrastructure projects.
• SACAP registration is required and local knowledge of KwaZulu-Natal is advantageous.
• Proficiency in architectural design and drafting software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and project management of industrial and infrastructure developments, ensuring all projects meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.
• Coordinate effectively with engineers (structural, mechanical, electrical), contractors, and other consultants to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Develop detailed architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation suitable for industrial environments.
• Conduct thorough site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for new projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Oversee the construction phase, including site inspections, quality control, and problem-solving to ensure designs are implemented correctly and safely.
• Ensure all designs and construction activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations (including OHS Act), and environmental legislation.
• Manage client communications, progress reporting, and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architectural staff.
• Research and specify appropriate materials and construction techniques for demanding industrial applications.
