Job summary

Placements24 in Stellenbosch is seeking a Senior Petroleum Engineer focused on production optimization to maximize oil and gas recovery from existing fields. You will analyze data, identify opportunities, and implement strategies to improve well performance and field output.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of field experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with production analysis, nodal analysis, and reservoir simulation, working with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience focusing on production optimization.
Proficiency in production analysis software, nodal analysis, and reservoir interpretation.
Strong understanding of wellbore flow and artificial lift methods.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Analyze production data from wells and fields to identify performance issues and optimization opportunities.
Develop and implement strategies for artificial lift systems (ESPs, gas lift, rod pumps).
Conduct production forecasting, decline curve analysis, and economic evaluations for projects.
Recommend and manage workovers, stimulations, and other interventions to boost production.
Collaborate with reservoir and drilling engineers for integrated field development and plans.
Monitor operations and provide technical support to field teams.
