The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in wellbore performance, artificial lift, and production facility management, with 8+ years in production engineering, and will collaborate across drilling, reservoir, and facilities teams in the South African context.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze well production performance for optimization.
• Oversee well integrity programs including monitoring, testing, intervention planning.
• Design, implement, and optimize artificial lift systems (ESPs, gas lift, rod pumps).
• Troubleshoot issues such as sand production, scale, corrosion, paraffin deposition.
• Analyze and optimize production facility operations (separation, processing, export).
• Develop and manage well workover and intervention programs.
• Collaborate with drilling, reservoir, and facilities engineers for integrated projects.
• Prepare production forecasts, operational reports, and economic analyses.

About the Role

Our client, a significant operator in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a dedicated Senior Production Engineer to join their operational team in Soweto, Gauteng. This vital role focuses on ensuring the integrity of production wells and optimizing the performance of surface facilities to maximize asset value and maintain safe, efficient operations. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in wellbore performance, artificial lift, and production facility management. Based in Soweto, Gauteng, you will contribute to the sustainable production of our assets within the South African context, working closely with field operations and engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
