Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to lead production optimization initiatives from Pretoria, South Africa. The role focuses on analyzing production data, implementing artificial lift systems, and diagnosing operational issues to improve well and facility performance.

You will collaborate with reservoir and facilities teams, develop workover strategies, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining safety and regulatory standards in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of production engineering experience in oil and gas.
• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of artificial lift technologies and production optimization.
• Experience with production software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production rates, pressures, and fluid properties for oil and gas wells.
• Design, implement, and optimize artificial lift systems (ESP, rod pump, gas lift).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot production problems and optimize recovery.
• Conduct well performance analyses and test interpretations.
• Develop workover and recompletion strategies.
• Collaborate with reservoir and facilities engineers on forecasts and plans.
• Prepare production forecasts, reports, and economic justifications.
• Mentor junior production engineers; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
