Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join our client in Durban. This hands-on role focuses on optimizing the mechanical integrity of complex processing facilities and ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards.

You will lead design and installation of process equipment, develop maintenance programs, oversee risk-based inspections, and drive projects with operations, maintenance and safety teams to achieve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience in process industries (petrochemical, chemical, or oil and gas).
• Experience with design, operation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, turbines and pressure vessels.
• Knowledge of ASME and API codes.
• Experience with maintenance management software and CAD tools.
• Strong project management and communication skills with on-site plant experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, specification and installation of new mechanical process equipment.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs for critical assets.
• Conduct mechanical integrity inspections and risk-based assessments for static and rotating equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Manage mechanical modification projects, ensuring safety, design standards, and budgets.
• Review mechanical drawings, calculations, and specifications; provide guidance to maintenance teams.
• Ensure all mechanical operations comply with EHS standards and participate in safety reviews.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and safety teams to achieve operational excellence.
