Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join a leading petrochemical operator in Richards Bay. You will optimize complex chemical processing facilities, ensure safe, efficient and environmentally compliant operations, and contribute to design, troubleshooting and improvement initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering with at least 7 years in process engineering, strong skills in Aspen Plus or HYSYS, PHA/HAZOP, and PSM, plus the ability to lead

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of process engineering experience in petrochemical, chemical, or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of Aspen Plus or HYSYS and data analysis.
• Experience with PHA/HAZOP and process safety management (PSM).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and mass/energy balances.
• Lead or participate in process improvement projects using Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and junior engineers on process operations and safety.
