Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join its Mossel Bay operations. The role focuses on optimizing complex chemical processes, boosting production output and ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities include process optimization, P&ID updates, PHAs, and supporting project design for future expansions, with a hybrid work model and relocation support where needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years in process engineering within petrochemical or oil & gas.
• Strong knowledge of reaction engineering, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Proficiency in process simulation tools and data analysis.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their operations in Mossel Bay, a key hub for petrochemical activities. This role demands expertise in optimizing complex chemical processes, improving efficiency, ensuring safety, and reducing environmental impact. You will be integral in analyzing plant performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance production output and product quality. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize existing chemical processes to improve yield, efficiency, and throughput.

• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams, troubleshooting process-related issues.
• Lead or participate in process design for new projects or plant expansions, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process engineering within the petrochemical or oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with experience in leading technical initiatives.
