Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with a focus on mineral processing for operations near Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This hybrid role blends on-site operational support with remote analysis and design work to optimize circuits, develop flowsheets, and improve recovery and throughput.

The successful candidate will apply metallurgical principles, run test work and pilot trials, and use process simulation tools to drive safe, cost-efficient improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• 7+ years of mineral processing/metallurgy experience.
• Strong understanding of comminution, flotation, leaching.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, HSC).

Responsibilities

• Optimize metallurgical performance of mineral processing plants, focusing on recovery, grade, and cost efficiency.
• Design, develop, and implement new process flowsheets and upgrades for mineral processing operations.
• Conduct metallurgical test work and pilot plant trials to evaluate new technologies and process improvements.
• Utilize process simulation software for design and optimization.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical support to plant personnel.

You will be instrumental in optimizing existing processing circuits, developing new process flowsheets, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective recovery of valuable minerals. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of metallurgical principles, plant operations, and process simulation, contributing to the continuous improvement of metallurgical performance and plant throughput, while also ensuring safe and environmentally sound operations.
