Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead process improvement initiatives in our East London chemical manufacturing site. You will collaborate with operations, maintenance and QA to drive safety, efficiency and quality across production lines.

This hybrid role combines on-site leadership with remote task management and a focus on SPC, HAZOPs, and continuous improvement to deliver robust operational excellence.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering required.
• 7+ years in chemical process engineering.
• Strong skills in process simulation, optimization and SPC.
• Knowledge of process safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvements to boost efficiency, yield and product quality.
• Conduct root cause analyses for deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, SOPs, and mass/energy balances.
• Oversee process safety management, HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and support operations and maintenance.
• Monitor performance with KPIs and optimize output.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to join their manufacturing operations in East London . This role will involve leading significant process improvement initiatives, troubleshooting complex operational challenges, and ensuring the efficiency, safety, and quality of chemical production lines. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Conduct root cause analyses for process deviations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and mass/energy balances.
• Oversee process safety management activities, including HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical expertise to operations and maintenance teams.
• Monitor process performance using key metrics and recommend adjustments to optimize output.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in process simulation, optimization, and statistical process control (SPC).
• In-depth knowledge of process safety principles and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities, suitable for a hybrid work model.
