Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Control Engineer to lead design and optimization of process control strategies for large-scale chemical manufacturing. The role is fully remote within South Africa, enabling collaboration with international teams and multiple sites including East London.

Qualifications include a 6+ year background in process control, hands-on DCS/PLC experience (Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens), and strong skills in control theory and simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical or electrical engineering required.
• Minimum 6 years in process control engineering.
• Experience with DCS/PLC platforms such as Honeywell, Emerson, Siemens.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced process control strategies (MPC, PID).
• Configure and maintain DCS/PLC systems.
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for performance and stability.
• Develop and manage simulation models for testing and training.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements and implement solutions.
• Ensure safety and cybersecurity compliance in control designs.
• Provide remote training and support to operations teams.
• Stay updated on advances in process control technology.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources for control system implementations.
