Job summary

thyssenkrupp is seeking an experienced Senior Piping Engineer to join the Piping & Layout Engineering Department. The role involves acting as lead engineer, interfacing with the client as part of the owner's team, and guiding the piping design for Petrochemical, Refinery and Chemical Plants.

You will oversee manpower planning, prepare Scope of Work, manage consultants, participate in PFD/P&ID reviews, and lead 3D model and constructability reviews.

Qualifications

• BSc./ BEng./ B.Tech Mechanical Engineering degree with 12-15 years engineering experience, contracting environment, energy/chemical/refining/petrochemical industries.
• Lead engineer on at least 3 large projects in basic and detail engineering phases.
• Strong client interaction and owner-team experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer on piping/layout projects across feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction, and commissioning.
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the process team.
• Prepare Scope of Work / Works Information for supply of services and management of consultants.
• Develop project standards, engineering and technical specifications.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews.
• Lead 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Front end and detail piping design for petrochemical, refinery and chemical plants.
• Stress analysis and piping system design for various equipment.

Job description

Your responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Senior Piping Engineer with relevant design house experience to join the Piping & Layout Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the job as summarised below, but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client and forming part of an owner's team with the client
• Performing lead engineer role.
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the project process team
• Preparation of Scope of Work / Works Information for supply of services and management of consultants to deliver to scope, quality and schedule.
• Preparation of project standards, engineering and technical specifications
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews
• Lead 3D model and constructability reviews
• Front end and detail Piping Design for Petrochemical, Refinery and Chemical Plants
• Stress analysis and flexibility calculations
• Design of pressure piping systems for: columns, drums, pumps, re-boilers, heat exchangers, air coolers, reactors, compressors, fired heaters, etc

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to work in a projects based environment covering all phases of project execution (feasibility, concept, basic, detail, construction support and commissioning).

The individual will engage in piping/ layout design activities related to producing and checking piping engineering deliverables.

The scope of this role will require the incumbent to function in a resource and/ or lead role on projects.

As a project piping/layout engineer, the individual will be responsible for piping/layout deliverables and quality on the project.

Your profile

The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ BEng./ B.Tech Mechanical Engineering degree with 12-15 years engineering experience of which 8 years should be in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Lead Engineer Experience

Professional Registration with ECSA is required.

The successful candidate must have successfully performed in the position of lead engineer on at least 3 large projects in the basic and detail engineering phase.
