Placements24 is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Quality Control Analyst for a Centurion, Gauteng role. The successful candidate will lead QC testing across raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, using HPLC, GC, and dissolution techniques.

A strong background in pharmacopeias and regulatory requirements is essential. The position requires 5–7 years in pharmaceutical QC, mentorship ability, and a track record of upholding GLP/GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of QC laboratory experience in pharma.
• Hands-on with analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, dissolution).
• Knowledge of pharmacopeias and regulatory guidelines (FDA/EMA/SAHPRA).
• Strong GMP/GLP understanding and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, and FTIR as needed.
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods per pharmacopeial standards and regulations.
• Interpret results, investigate OOS, and document findings thoroughly.
• Maintain GLP/GMP-compliant records and calibrate equipment.

About the Role

Our client, a respected name in the pharmaceutical industry, is seeking a diligent and experienced Senior Pharmaceutical Quality Control Analyst to join their vital operations in Centurion, Gauteng . The Senior QC Analyst will be responsible for overseeing a range of analytical procedures, ensuring adherence to strict regulatory standards and internal quality protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of analytical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using various laboratory techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR).
• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods according to pharmacopeial standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Interpret test results, identify deviations, and investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results, documenting findings thoroughly.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
• Review and approve analytical data generated by junior analysts and contribute to batch release decisions.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality control processes and procedures.
• Train and mentor junior Quality Control Analysts, providing guidance on analytical techniques and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical Quality Control laboratory environment.
• Extensive hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer titrator, and dissolution apparatus.
• In-depth knowledge of pharmacopeias (e.g., USP, EP, BP) and regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA, SAHPRA).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot analytical methods and equipment failures.
• Strong understanding of GMP/GLP principles and their application in a QC setting.
• Excellent documentation, record-keeping, and data integrity skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Leadership potential and experience in mentoring junior staff are highly desirable.
