Placements24 is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer to drive process development and optimization for pharmaceutical manufacturing. This senior role is remote-first with occasional travel to the Centurion, Gauteng area, leading a team of engineers and ensuring GMP compliance.

You will guide scale‑up, technology transfer, and process validation while partnering with QA, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to deliver compliant, high‑quality products. Strong regulatory knowledge and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years overall chemical process engineering experience, 5+ in pharma/biotech.
• GMP manufacturing and sterile processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and validation of chemical processes for APIs and intermediates.
• Manage and mentor a team of chemical engineers.
• Oversee scale‑up and tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing.
• Ensure GMP compliance and regulatory adherence throughout all stages.
• Develop and implement robust process control strategies and automation.
• Conduct PHAs and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with QA, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams.
