Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting for a Senior Chemical Engineer for a leading petrochemical client in Klerksdorp. You will lead feedstock optimization, analyze quality, run process models, and implement yield-improving changes in a hybrid on-site/remote setup.

We expect 9+ years in chemical engineering, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in refining or processing. Relocation support within the North West region may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in chemical engineering, with a significant focus on petrochemical refining or processing.
• Demonstrated expertise in feedstock analysis, characterization, and utilization in refining or chemical processes.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of refining units such as distillation, cracking, reforming, and associated processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze feedstock composition and properties to inform optimization strategies.
• Develop and implement blending strategies to maximize product yields and quality.
• Run process modeling and simulation to evaluate feedstock impacts on unit operations.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations and procurement to source and integrate new feedstocks.
• Provide technical guidance and support to plant operations and engineering staff.
