Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Chemical Engineer in Rustenburg, North West, ZA to oversee critical process engineering functions in a hybrid on-site/remote role. You will design, implement, and optimize large-scale petrochemical processes, lead a team of engineers, and ensure safety, compliance, and environmental standards while driving capital projects and operational improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, project management, and deep knowledge of APIs/ASME codes and process

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive petrochemical/chemical processing experience.
• Experience leading engineering projects and teams.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID tools.
• Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) or equivalent is highly desirable.
• Experience with API/ASME international codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of petrochemical plant processes.
• Oversee process safety studies (HAZOP/LOPA).
• Mentor and manage a team of chemical engineers.
• Develop process simulations and P&IDs for new installations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction, and operations.
• Prepare technical specifications, feasibility studies, and proposals.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance plant performance.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide process guidance.
