Job summary

Communicate Recruitment is seeking an experienced payments professional in Cape Town to review and authorise supplier, operational and ad hoc payments. You will verify banking details, amounts and supporting documentation and ensure payments comply with internal controls.

Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and proficiency in Excel and finance systems are essential. Experience in high-volume payment environments, retail or FMCG, will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum 35 years experience in payments, banking, creditors or finance operations.

Responsibilities

• Review and authorise supplier, operational and ad hoc payments.
• Verify banking details, payment amounts, supporting documentation and approvals.
• Ensure payments comply with internal controls and approval frameworks.
• Investigate payment discrepancies, rejections, reversals and unmatched transactions.
• Identify and escalate unusual or high-risk transactions.
• Support month-end payment cut-offs and accrual processes.
• Assist with improving payment processes, controls and workflows.
