Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a Senior Pastry Chef to lead the pastry section of a luxury hospitality establishment in Cape Town, Western Cape. You will manage daily pastry operations, mentor the team and ensure high standards of desserts, pastries and breads.

The role requires a relevant pastry qualification and at least five years of experience in a high-volume luxury kitchen, with strong leadership and creativity. Live-out position with negotiable salary.

Qualifications

• Relevant culinary or pastry qualification required.
• Minimum 5 years of pastry experience in a professional kitchen.
• Experience in high-volume, luxury hospitality or fine dining environments.
• Strong pastry production knowledge and dessert presentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the daily pastry operations.
• Prepare and present desserts, pastries, breads and baked goods to standard.
• Ensure pastry prep readiness before service.
• Maintain quality, consistency and creativity across pastry items.
• Coach and develop junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff.
• Support menu development and seasonal dessert concepts.
• Manage stock, inventory and FIFO rotation; minimise wastage.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe pastry kitchen and proper equipment upkeep.
