Job summary

The Department of Health in Gauteng seeks an Assistant Manager Nursing Specialty (Child Nursing) to provide strategic leadership in paediatric nursing, oversee clinical governance, and supervise a team in a busy, high-pressured environment.

Candidates must have a post basic diploma in Child Nursing Science (1 year) and a management qualification, with at least 10 years’ nursing experience and 3 years at management level; salary package is R785 568.00 per annum plus benefits.

Qualifications

Post basic diploma in Child Nursing Science (1 year) accredited with SANC.
Minimum 10 years’ nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing; at least 3 years in management level.
Must possess a management qualification and be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and ensure clinical governance programmes.
Monitor paediatric morbidity, mortality and adverse events; ensure appropriate bed utilization.
Develop SOPs, clinical guidelines, policies and protocols for child nursing; participate in HR planning.
Lead and supervise staff; manage resources and perform night duties when required.
Collect, analyse and report relevant data to inform decisions.
