Job summary

Department of Health at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital seeks a senior nurse leader to oversee clinical nursing practice in the Paediatrics unit and ensure Batho Pele principles are applied.

The role requires extensive nursing experience with post-basic qualifications in child health, strong management and communication skills, and active participation in unit governance and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Basic qualification registered with SANC per Government Notice 425, plus a post-basic diploma in Child Nursing Science.
• Minimum of 9 years nursing experience after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
• At least 5 years after obtaining the post-basic qualification in the relevant specialty.
• Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration / Health Service Management and Computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the unit and participate in decision making.
• Promote Batho Pele principles and ensure quality nursing care.
• Supervise staff and manage time and resources in the unit.
• Engage in morbidity and mortality meetings and report writing.
