Qualifications

  • Registered with SANC as a Professional Nurse with a basic nursing qualification.
  • Degree or post graduate qualification in Nursing Management/ Administration or Health service management.
  • Minimum of 9 years nursing experience after registration, with at least 4 years at Assistant Manager level.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and management skills; ability to work under pressure.

Job description

  • Package : R1 069 215.00 – R1 219 323.00 per annum (all-inclusive package)
Requirements
  • A basic qualification accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice R425 (i.e. Diploma/ Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse. Degree or post graduate qualification in Nursing Management/ Nursing Administration (R. 212) or Health service management (R.635) accredited by SANC is a requirement. Nursing Education is an added advantage. A minimum of 9 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. At least 4 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate experience at Assistant Manager level. Computer literacy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams. Applicants must be able to work under pressure. Understanding the application of the relevant statutes and policies governing Public Service, nursing profession and corporate and clinical governance. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Nurse Education, Training and Practice 2020/21 – 2025/26. Knowledge and skills: have strong leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills, sound interpersonal skills, project management skills, financial and human resources management skills. Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary context. Analytic thinking, independent decision making and problem-solving skills. Have the capacity to see him/herself as hospital manager other than nursing manager and unite all categories of staff.
Duties
  • Provide guidance and leadership towards the realization of Nursing strategic plan, Strategic goals and objectives of the department. Provide professional, technical and management support for the provision of quality patient care through the proper management of nursing care programs. Advocate and ensure the promotion of nursing ethics and professionalism. Develop and monitor the implementation of policies, programs, regulations, practices, procedures, and standards pertaining to nursing care. Manage the human resources efficiently and effectively to attain the departmental goals and objectives. Utilize information technology and other management information systems to manage nursing information for the enhancement of service delivery. Establish, maintain, and participate in inter-professional and multi-disciplinary teamwork that promotes efficient and effective health care. Demonstrate and manage resources in accordance with relevant directives and legislation: (Human. Financial, Physical and Material resources). Understanding of managing workplace discipline, well developed communication, presentation, negotiations, and research skills. Lead in the hospital quality assurance programme, Infection Prevention and Control based on National Core Standards and Ideal Hospital Realization Framework and quality improvement activities. Coordinate review of nursing interventions through comprehensive and ongoing assessment and risk analysis. Maintain professional growth / ethical standards and development of self and subordinates. Provide full-time technical and management support to the CEO and institution. Implement Batho Pele Principles, Patient’s Rights Charter. Coordinate nursing related research and development. Support management in enhancing the image of the nursing department and improve the skills and competencies of the nurses. Enhance and manage the performance management and development of nurses Involvement in the hospital’s quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Management of nursing projects and participation in hospital projects aimed at enhancing service delivery. Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation or health care indicators for improved outcomes. Implementation of the National Strategic Direction for Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice 2020/21 – 2025/26. Lead and implement the Guidelines for Clinical Nursing Education and Training Units in South Africa. Implementation of the South African Nursing Council Nursing Practice Standards for Use in all Health Establishments in South Africa. Provide leadership in implementing the South African Nursing Council Continuing Professional Development Framework for Nurses and Midwives in South Africa.
