Job summary

Ad Talent Africa is seeking a Senior Packaging Designer in Cape Town to lead packaging design across multiple brands. You will concept, develop and deliver production-ready artwork with a strong eye for brand identity and print accuracy.

The ideal candidate has at least 6 years of experience in brand and packaging design, strong conceptual skills, and the ability to mentor junior designers while delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Graphic Design or Art Direction, or a proven track record in retail brand and packaging design.
• At least 6 years of graphic design experience, specifically in brand and packaging design.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualise and develop creative brand and packaging designs across multiple brands.
• Design and roll out packaging and print materials from concept to finished artwork.
• Ensure brand consistency and adherence to corporate identity guidelines.
• Create 3D mockups and renders for presentations.
• Ensure artwork meets print specifications and technical standards.
• Collaborate with traffic, client service, clients and creative teams to meet briefs and deadlines.
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional design quality.
• Mentor junior designers and DTP team members.

We are looking for a conceptually strong Senior Packaging Designer with at least 6 years of experience in brand and packaging design, from initial concept development through to final production-ready artwork. The ideal candidate has a strong creative eye, excellent technical print knowledge and the ability to mentor junior designers while delivering high-quality work across multiple brands.

What do you need

• A degree or diploma in Graphic Design or Art Direction, or a proven track record in retail brand and packaging design

• At least 6 years of graphic design experience, specifically in brand and packaging design

• Strong conceptual, creative and design skills

• Proven experience taking concepts through to final production-ready artwork

• Excellent knowledge of print production and technical standards

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop

• Ability to create 3D mockups and renders

• Photo retouching and editing skills would be advantageous

• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management

• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset and a positive, can-do attitude
