Job summary

Adapt IT (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to lead administration, security, and optimization of the Oracle database and application server estate supporting Adapt IT Education platforms.

The role covers Oracle WebLogic, Forms, Reports, and ADF environments, Linux servers, and CI/CD pipelines across multi-cloud infrastructure. Mentoring junior DBAs and driving automation are key components of the position.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years' experience as an Oracle DBA or in a related database/infrastructure role.
• Experience designing, upgrading, and patching Oracle databases with best practices.
• Strong Linux and shell scripting skills with automation focus.
• Knowledge of cloud providers (AWS/Azure) and CI/CD workflows.
• Security, monitoring and performance tuning across complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle Database instances (19c) across environments.
• Own database architecture decisions including capacity planning and upgrade strategy.
• Manage schemas, users, roles, and privileges with least-privilege principles.
• Plan and lead database upgrades, migrations and consolidation projects.
• Design and test RMAN backups, Data Guard, and RAC setups.
