The Incumbent is responsible to perform the role of Senior Operator within the Gold & Biometallurgy division for Natural Resources, Metmin situated at our Laboratory in Randfontein.
Job Description
- Perform routine and non‑routine tests following established procedures and/or modify procedures to accomplish the assigned tasks.
- Complete tasks within the allocated time and plan work for operators to ensure that the overall service goals of the company are met.
- Responsible for reporting any infringements or non‑compliances by any other laboratory staff member with respect to allocated work, punctuality, or any other misdemeanor to the metallurgist.
- Must be able to interpret and perform calculations on testwork including calculating the use of reagents.
- Must be able to set up and conduct test‑work independently.
- Must be able to calculate reagent dosages for gold tests based on sample mass and volume.
- Must be able to carry out all associated sample preparation test‑work.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable task as assigned by direct line manager.
- Assist in conducting cyanidation and diagnostic testwork.
- Manage production and operations safely.
- Understand the requirements of the SGS Quality Management System.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations.
- Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or cease to enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection. Report such situations to higher authorities to take action.
- Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality or integrity of services and report the situation to a higher authority to take action.
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
- Remember that any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation to a higher authority.
Qualifications
Education
- Matric (Senior Certificate)
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in the relevant field.
