About the Role

Our client, a prominent leader in the logistics and supply chain sector, is seeking an accomplished Senior Operations Manager to drive efficiency and innovation within their Midrand, Gauteng operations. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring the seamless flow of goods from origin to destination. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic operational plans to enhance efficiency and reduce costs across the supply chain, with a focus on the Midrand, Gauteng region.
• Manage and lead a team of operational staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a high-achieving work environment.
• Oversee all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and logistics, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborate with procurement, sales, and finance departments to align operational activities with broader business objectives.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to address any deviations from targets.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Identify and implement process improvements and technological solutions to streamline operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
• Prepare regular reports on operational performance for senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within the logistics or supply chain industry.
• Proven experience managing large-scale warehousing and distribution operations in Midrand, Gauteng or similar urban centers.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP), and transportation logistics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
• Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving, with a demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making.
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
• Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
