Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for open-pit operations in Johannesburg. You will contribute to strategic planning, design, and execution across diverse projects, driving safety, efficiency and profitability.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of open-pit experience, strong data interpretation and leadership skills, and proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan and Micromine. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with geologists and metallurgists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in open-pit mining operations.
• Proven experience with mine planning software and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of SA mining regulations and best practices.
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mine plans and production schedules.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations.
• Oversee open-pit mine layouts, waste stripping and ore sequencing.
• Analyze geological and geotechnical data for design decisions.
• Monitor costs and drive efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regs.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
• Collaborate with geologists and metallurgists on project objectives.
• Create detailed models using Deswik, Vulcan, Micromine.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
