Placements24 is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer to join our on-site operations in Paarl, Western Cape. You will lead process safety across chemical processes, implement PSM programs, perform hazard analyses and ensure regulatory compliance.

We require aBachelor's degree in chemical engineering and at least five years in process safety, with strong skills in risk assessment, incident investigation, and training delivery. This role emphasizes safety leadership and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Five+ years of process safety engineering experience in chemical/petrochemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements and PHA methodologies.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and work in teams.
• Proven track record in risk assessment and mitigation.
• Experience with safety management systems and SCE programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain robust process safety management (PSM) systems.
• Conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/what-if) and related risk analyses.
• Assess and manage risks across chemical processes, equipment and operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and other safety regulations.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to staff.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Review designs/modifications for process safety implications.
• Maintain SCE lists and mechanical integrity programs.
• Oversee emergency response planning and procedures.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
