Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Production Operations Superintendent for Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will lead day-to-day oil and gas production, manage a multidisciplinary team, and drive safety, efficiency and continuous improvement across processing facilities and well operations.

The role requires a strong technical background, a proven leadership track record, and the ability to deliver production targets in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of progressive oil and gas production operations experience
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Familiar with HSE regulations and asset integrity management

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage day-to-day production operations (well operations, processing facilities, infrastructure)
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental regulations and company policies
• Develop and implement operational plans and budgets to achieve targets and manage costs
• Lead, mentor and develop operations and maintenance teams
• Oversee maintenance strategies to ensure asset integrity and reliability
• Monitor performance, identify optimization opportunities and drive improvements
• Manage emergency response plans and incident readiness
• Coordinate with departments, contractors and regulators for seamless operations
• Champion safety initiatives and zero-incident workplace
• Report performance and challenges to senior management
