Placements24 is seeking a Senior Offshore Installation Engineer for our East London operations. The role focuses on planning, managing, and safely executing offshore installation campaigns, coordinating with marine spreads, and ensuring delivery within time and budget constraints.

The ideal candidate will have extensive offshore construction experience, strong leadership, and a proven track record in handling complex offshore projects with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 9 years of offshore installation engineering experience, with Oil & Gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of offshore construction methods, heavy lifting, pipeline laying, and subsea installation.
• Proven leadership to manage complex offshore projects and teams.
• Ability to manage safety, budgets, and schedules across multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed installation plans, procedures, and risk assessments for offshore structures, pipelines, and equipment.
• Coordinate marine construction contractors and vessel crews.
• Oversee offshore installation campaigns to meet schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
• Perform engineering reviews of installation designs and methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical development.
• Liaise with project management, engineering, and client representatives for seamless delivery.

About the Role

Our client, a leading force in the offshore Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Offshore Installation Engineer for their operations in East London, Eastern Cape . This role is fundamental to the successful execution of offshore construction projects, focusing on the planning, management, and safe execution of offshore installations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of offshore construction techniques, marine operations, and heavy lifting, with a proven ability to manage complex installation campaigns. You will be responsible for developing detailed installation procedures, coordinating with marine spread contractors, and ensuring project objectives are met on time and within budget, while upholding the highest safety standards. This is a critical leadership position contributing to the expansion of offshore energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed installation plans, procedures, and risk assessments for offshore structures, pipelines, and equipment.


• Manage and coordinate the activities of marine construction contractors and vessel crews.


• Oversee offshore installation campaigns, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.


• Conduct engineering reviews of installation designs and methodologies.


• Ensure compliance with relevant offshore codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.


• Manage the logistics and mobilization of equipment and personnel for offshore operations.


• Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support during offshore execution.


• Liaise with project management, engineering, and client representatives to ensure seamless project delivery.


• Participate in offshore site surveys and pre-installation planning.


• Manage interfaces between different offshore systems and construction activities.


• Prepare post-installation reports and conduct lessons learned analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.


• Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in offshore installation engineering, with significant project execution experience in the Oil & Gas industry.


• Strong understanding of offshore construction methods, heavy lifting, pipeline laying, and subsea installation.


• Proven experience in managing complex marine operations and construction vessels.


• Proficiency in relevant offshore engineering software and project management tools.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.


• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and work effectively under pressure in offshore environments.


• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.


• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for offshore construction.


• Experience working in the Eastern Cape region or similar coastal/offshore environments is advantageous.
