Placements24 in East London seeks an experienced Subsea Pipeline Engineer to lead design and integrity management of subsea pipelines for offshore developments.

Based in East London, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable subsea infrastructure, with a focus on client satisfaction and project performance.

The role requires 7+ years in subsea engineering with strong knowledge of API, DNV, ASME codes and proficiency in SACS, Flexcom, and PIPESIM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in subsea pipeline engineering within Oil & Gas.
• In-depth knowledge of pipeline design principles, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in pipeline design software: SACS, Flexcom, PIPESIM.
• Experience with offshore projects is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SA offshore regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design calculations for subsea pipelines including route selection, wall thickness, buoyancy, and expansion analysis.
• Develop installation procedures and participate in offshore installation planning and execution.
• Conduct integrity management studies including risk assessments, inspection planning, and fitness-for-service evaluations.
• Ensure designs comply with API, DNV, ASME and other relevant standards.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for pipeline systems.
• Collaborate with subsea fabrication and installation contractors.
• Liaise with other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Analyze pipeline performance data and identify optimization opportunities.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in subsea pipeline engineering.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in subsea pipeline engineering within the Oil & Gas sector.
• In-depth knowledge of pipeline design principles, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Proficiency in pipeline design and analysis software (e.g., SACS, Flexcom, PIPESIM).
• Strong understanding of subsea installation methods and integrity management practices.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Experience working on offshore projects is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with South African offshore regulations is a plus.
