The role requires a Civil/Mechanical/Marine background with 10+ years in offshore construction, including 5+ years in leadership, and strong knowledge of IMCA/IMO regulations.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leading international contractor specializing in offshore energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Offshore Installation Manager to oversee critical construction and installation activities. This role will be based out of Bloemfontein, Free State, providing crucial onshore support and project management for offshore campaigns. The Offshore Installation Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely execution of offshore installation operations, including the deployment of structures, pipelines, and subsea equipment. You will manage all aspects of offshore logistics, personnel, and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and project specifications. This is a demanding but highly rewarding position for an individual with extensive offshore construction experience and strong leadership capabilities. You will be instrumental in the successful delivery of complex projects, contributing to the growth of renewable energy and traditional oil and gas infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of offshore construction and installation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Develop and implement detailed offshore execution plans and procedures.
• Manage offshore construction crews, including supervisors, technicians, and vessel crews.
• Ensure strict compliance with all relevant safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, marine operations, and other stakeholders.
• Manage offshore resources, including vessels, heavy-lift equipment, and materials.
• Conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure effective communication and reporting between offshore sites and onshore management.
• Oversee the demobilization and return of offshore assets and personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Marine) or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in offshore construction and installation, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
• Proven experience with complex offshore structures, pipelines, subsea equipment, and renewable energy installations (e.g., wind turbines).
• In-depth knowledge of offshore construction techniques, vessel operations, and marine logistics.
• Strong understanding of international maritime and offshore safety regulations (e.g., IMCA, IMO).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to manage large, diverse teams in challenging offshore environments.
• Experience with project management software and methodologies.
• Valid offshore survival training and medical certification.
• Flexibility to work extended periods offshore and adapt to varying work schedules.
