Qualifications

• PhD in Nursing at NQF Level 10 is required for permanent appointment.
• Master’s degree in Nursing at NQF Level 9 is required for contract appointment (5 years).
• Professional Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (NQF Level 8) required.
• Nursing Education qualification registered with SANC required.
• Occupational Health Nursing qualification registered with SANC required.
• Registration with SANC as Professional Nurse (General/Psychiatry/Community) and Midwife/Accoucheur required.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students across lectures, tutorials, practical classes, assessments and seminars.
• Coordinate and lecture modules in the applicable field.
• Provide clinical supervision of students in the relevant field.
• Provide support to skills development within the relevant field.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Contribute to curriculum development and innovation.
• Develop and implement innovative research and postgraduate strategies.
• Recruit senior students for postgraduate study and promote throughput.
• Conduct research, publish in journals and present results at national/international fora.
• Identify funding sources to support research and colleagues’ work.
• Maintain a scholarly profile appropriate to the appointment level.
• Update knowledge in the field of specialisation.
• Participate in Department research focus areas and community engagement.
• Perform organisational and administrative duties.
