Job summary

The University of the Free State invites applications for a Medical Officer/Researcher (Simulation and Research) on a 1-year contract, renewable. The role leads the clinical simulation research programme, mentors postgraduate students, and contributes to teaching within the CSSU.

A strong publication track record is expected, with collaborative, innovative curriculum development. Inherent requirements include MBChB (NQF 8), a Master’s in Health Professions Education or Simulation (NQF 9), and

Qualifications

Proven teaching and facilitation in under-/postgraduate education.
Research experience in clinical simulation or health professions education.
Peer‑reviewed publications in accredited journals.

Responsibilities

Provide scholarly leadership in advancing clinical simulation education and training.
Lead and grow research in clinical simulation and health professions education; supervise postgraduate students; secure funding; publish findings.
Contribute to teaching and learning through design and evaluation of simulation activities in CSSU.
Plan, develop and present clinical skills sessions with learning outcomes and materials; facilitate learning with simulation equipment.
Contribute to development and implementation of clinical skills assessments (OSCEs) and examinations; use feedback to improve content and quality.
