Job summary

Penta Consulting is seeking a Senior .Net Developer to join a client team in Johannesburg on a 6 month extendable contract, with on‑site work 4 days a week. You will design and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using .NET Core, and optimize SQL Server databases for performance.

The role also involves implementing distributed caching, collaborating with frontend teams, and leveraging technologies like ElasticSearch and Redis to improve search capabilities and application responsiveness.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building RESTful APIs and background services using Worker Services.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, dependency injection, and middleware pipelines.
• Proven expertise in database design, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using .NET Core, with a focus on Web API and Worker Services.
• Architect and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring robust database design, performance tuning, and indexing strategies.
• Implement and manage distributed caching mechanisms to enhance application performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with frontend developers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and high‑quality user experiences.
