Job summary

Kontak Recruitment is seeking an Intermediate IT Support Engineer in Cape Town. You will join a small IT team providing hands‑on support to multiple clients, handling desktop/server issues, networking, cloud services, and security. Experience with MSP environments is essential and non‑negotiable.

You will assist with user setups, server maintenance, and 1st–3rd line support, ensuring SLA adherence and continuous improvement across a varied tech stack.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT support and infrastructure experience.
• 3+ years MSP experience supporting multiple clients per SLA.
• Strong Windows desktop/server support.
• Experience with AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, and permissions.
• Admin of Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online/SharePoint/Teams.
• Networking knowledge including VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls.
• Experience with Meraki/Netgear/Ubiquiti networking gear.
• Virtualisation with Hyper‑V/VMware/Proxmox.
• Backup/recovery tools such as Veeam, including cloud storage.
• ITIL Foundation or aligned practices.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1st–3rd line IT support across client environments.
• Set up users, configure computers and resolve issues.
• Install and maintain desktops, servers, networks, and virtual infra.
• Administer Microsoft 365 users and email security.
• Diagnose server failures and network outages.
• Assist with network/infrastructure design and changes.
• Monitor system health, security alerts, and backups.
• Perform maintenance, patching and upgrades, including after hours.
• Logwork and maintain configuration records and tickets.
• Investigate recurring problems and root causes.
• Support printers, VoIP, surveillance, access control, hosting.
• Maintain data privacy and secure client information.
