Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Molecular Biologist in Pretoria to advance our Genomics and Gene Therapy research. You will design and perform complex experiments, analyze data, and contribute to developing gene editing tools and therapeutic candidates in a collaborative lab.

The role requires a Ph.D. and at least four years post-PhD experience, hands-on proficiency with a broad set of molecular techniques, and the ability to interpret sequencing data.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years post-Ph.D. research experience.
• Hands-on experience with a broad range of molecular biology techniques and instrumentation.
• Ability to analyze complex sequencing data.
• Familiarity with CRISPR and gene therapy principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, perform, and optimize advanced molecular biology experiments (PCR, qPCR, cloning, Western blotting, cell-based assays).
• Develop and validate new molecular assays for target identification and validation in disease models.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software.
• Contribute to the development and characterization of gene therapy vectors and gene editing technologies.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues and ensure reproducibility of results.
• Collaborate with other scientists on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to publications and presentations.
