Job summary

Placements24 on behalf of our client seeks a Senior Scientist in Molecular Biology to join their R&D team in Mahikeng. You will lead advanced research projects, design and optimize molecular assays, and help define scientific strategy.

The role requires a PhD in a life sciences field and at least 6 years post-PhD experience with PCR/qPCR, cloning and CRISPR, plus strong leadership and collaboration skills. You will mentor staff and contribute to publications and patents.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field.
Minimum 6 years post-PhD experience in molecular biology research.
Extensive experience with PCR, qPCR, cloning, gene expression analysis, and CRISPR.
Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead design, execution, and analysis of complex molecular biology experiments.
Develop and optimize novel molecular assays for target identification and validation.
Manage research projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to scientific rigor.
Mentor and guide junior research staff, fostering their scientific development and laboratory skills.
Contribute to scientific publications, patent applications, and presentations of research findings.
