Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geneticist in Centurion to lead our genomics research program. You will design and execute experiments, analyze complex data, and drive method development for genetic analysis and diagnostics.

The role requires a Ph.D. with 6+ years post-doctoral experience, strong leadership, and a track record in collaborative, hybrid work environments within cutting-edge genomic science.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral research experience in genetics or genomics.
• Proven expertise in genomic data analysis, including statistical genetics and population genetics principles.
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques and laboratory research.
• Familiarity with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases (PLINK, VCF tools, IGV).
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with experience in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct sophisticated experiments in human genetics and molecular biology to investigate disease mechanisms.
• Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic datasets, including GWAS, exome sequencing, and RNA-seq data.
• Develop and implement new methodologies for genetic analysis and variant interpretation.
• Collaborate with computational biologists and statisticians to integrate multi-omics data for comprehensive insights.
• Supervise and mentor junior research staff and contribute to research strategy development.
• Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present findings at scientific meetings.
