Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Data Analyst to join its innovative team in a fully remote role. You will leverage large geological, operational, and financial datasets to extract insights, optimize mining operations, and support strategic decision-making from anywhere in South Africa.

Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and management to identify trends, forecast resource yields, and improve efficiency using SQL, Python/R, and BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, specifically within the mining industry or related resource sectors.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python or R for data manipulation and analysis, and experience with BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and their application to operational optimization.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences remotely.
• Proven experience in working effectively in a remote team environment.
