Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote role. You will lead the planning, design, and execution of mining operations with a focus on efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

You will collaborate with geographically distributed teams, mentor junior engineers, and leverage Deswik, Surpac and Vulcan to optimize resource extraction and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive mining experience with emphasis on planning and operations.
• Proven ability to manage complex mining projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mine plans and production schedules to meet targets.
• Conduct feasibility studies and geological assessments for new and existing projects.
• Oversee selection, operation and maintenance of mining equipment and technologies.

About the Role

The role demands a strategic thinker who can leverage data and technology to optimize resource extraction and operational performance. You will collaborate with diverse, geographically distributed teams, driving innovation and excellence in all aspects of mine engineering and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans and production schedules to meet targets.
• Conduct feasibility studies and geological assessments for new and existing mining projects.
• Oversee the selection, operation, and maintenance of mining equipment and technologies.
• Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols.
• Analyze geological data and operational reports to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the operational teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, with a focus on mine planning and operations.
• Proven ability to manage complex mining projects from conception to completion.
• Proficiency in mining simulation and design software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of open-pit and underground mining methods.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for remote collaboration.
