Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Remote Exploration Data Analyst to join a globally distributed team supporting Bloemfontein operations. You will interpret large geological datasets, build ML models, and provide insights to exploration teams while working fully remotely.

Requirements include a Geoscience/Data Science/CS degree and 4+ years in mining/exploration data analysis, with Python/R and GIS experience. Excellent communication and independent work are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of data analysis experience in mining/exploration context.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Exploration Data Analyst to join their globally distributed team, supporting operations in the Bloemfontein region. This position focuses on the interpretation and management of vast geological datasets generated from exploration activities. You will leverage advanced analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns, assess geological potential, and provide critical insights to the exploration teams. This is a fully remote role offering the flexibility to work from anywhere, contributing significantly to strategic exploration decisions without needing to be on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, clean, and validate large geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets.
• Develop and utilize statistical models and machine learning algorithms for data interpretation and anomaly detection.
• Create visualizations, maps, and reports to communicate exploration findings and trends effectively.
• Collaborate remotely with geologists and geophysicists to integrate data and refine exploration strategies.
• Maintain and manage geological databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in data analysis for mineral exploration.

Requirements
