Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly skilled Senior Metallurgist to lead process optimization and development at their Richards Bay mining facility. You will oversee metallurgical processes, troubleshoot challenges, and drive innovation to maximize metal recovery and product quality.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, preferably base or precious metals.
In-depth knowledge of metallurgical unit processes and optimization.
Experience with metallurgical simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Optimize metallurgical processes (flotation, leaching, refining) to improve recovery and purity.
Conduct lab and pilot plant tests to evaluate new technologies.
Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, implement solutions.
Develop and maintain process control strategies and monitoring systems.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior metallurgists and technicians.
Ensure environmental and safety compliance in metallurgical operations.
