Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Metallurgist to lead base metals processing operations in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will optimize metallurgical performance, improve recovery, and ensure product quality while guiding a team of metallurgists and technicians.

Qualifications

Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in base metals mineral processing and metallurgy.
Extensive knowledge of flotation, leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, and smelting.

Responsibilities

Oversee metallurgical performance of base metals processing circuits (copper, zinc, lead).
Develop strategies to improve recovery, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
Conduct metallurgical test work, analyze results, and translate findings to plant-scale improvements.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the metallurgy team.
Troubleshoot operational issues and identify root causes for process deviations.
Collaborate with engineering and operations on plant upgrades and new process development.
Ensure all processing activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
