Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Metallurgist to lead Mineral Processing operations in East London. The role focuses on optimizing plant performance, improving recovery rates, and ensuring efficient mineral processing.

A hands-on leader will mentor junior metallurgists and technicians while collaborating with operations and R&D teams to hit production targets. You will oversee comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining, conduct tests and pilot studies, analyze data for improvements, and prepare

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
At least 7 years in mineral processing metallurgy.
Proven exposure to base metals, precious metals, or industrial minerals.
Strong knowledge of mineral processing unit operations and equipment.
Experience with metallurgical simulation software and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

Oversee and optimize metallurgical processes (comminution, flotation, leaching, refining).
Conduct metallurgical tests and pilot plant studies to evaluate new or improved processes.
Analyze data to boost recovery, grade, and efficiency.
Troubleshoot plant issues and develop solutions to minimize downtime.
Prepare reports, process flow diagrams, and technical recommendations.
Ensure safety, health, and environmental standards compliance.
